VTV.vn - Warner Brothers and Legendary pictures’ blockbuster Kong: Skull Island will be filmed in Vietnam starting February 22nd.

This will be the largest motion picture ever to be filmed in Vietnam. This was announced at a press conference on Sunday in Hanoi.

The movie stars famous actors; Tom Hiddleston, best known as Loki in the Avengers and Thor, Samuel L. Jackson, and Brie Larson among others. The film crew will have 5 weeks of production in Vietnam in the Northern Province of Ninh Binh, Quang Binh, and Ha Long bay. These tourism sites are well-known for their beauty. This is just what the film crew was looking for to bring something fresh and new to audiences worldwide.

Jordan Vogt-Roberts, Director, Kong: Skull Island said: How beautiful it is, how sort of surreal and stunning it is, and how different it is from what people are used to. There are shapes, colors, and mountain ranges that Americans generally don’t think exist. And it’s very clear that this is the place where we should film to wow audiences.

The filming of this blockbuster is expected to influence the tourism sector. The Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies were shot in New Zealand, and now the country is well-known as Middle-Earth. 14 per cent of holiday arrivals said that the Hobbit trilogy was a factor in their decision to visit New Zealand, according to a New Zealand International Visitor Survey in 2013.

"The government works closely with Warner Bros, and through that partnership, they are able to access content, actors, and real images from the movie and use that as part of their marketing. They brought in a number of international outlets to showcase the scenery and the locations that were chosen", said Robbie Taylor, Deputy Ambassador, New Zealand Embassy in Vietnam.

The Vice Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, Vuong Duy Bien, has high hopes that the movie will have a positive effect on Vietnam’s tourism. Prior to Vietnam, the cast also filmed on Oahu, Hawaii and Australia’s Gold Coast. The movie will be released worldwide in March 2017.
