Once known mainly as a retreat for short getaways, CanGio is now attracting more holiday visitors, with a growing line-up of festivals, kite-flying events, and coastal food fairs.
Gia Bao, Ho Chi Minh City said: "Can Gio is a great place to unwind, with its forests and coastline. I used to stay for just one or two days, but with more events and activities, I now tend to stay much longer.
The change is being driven by major infrastructure and urban development, with new transport links connecting Can Gio with surrounding areas and a planned international transshipment port and other major developments reshaping the area.
Hoang Lien Son. CEO, Alpha Real Estate Brokerage and Investment Joint Stock Company said: "Getting to Ho Chi Minh City will be much easier once these projects are completed between 2028 and 2030. The high-speed rail, for example, will connect Can Gio and Ben Thanh in just 13 minutes. Can Gio will play a major role in the city’s economy, particularly tourism.
As infrastructure development and investments gather pace, Can Gio is already rolling out programmes and events to drive local tourism.
Nguyen Thanh Tam, Sales Director for Southern Region, Vinhomes Joint Stock Company said: "Can Gio still needs more experiences and leisure activities to unlock its full potential. With more development, it could become a major hub for large events, while transport, logistics, and tourism could all benefit, creating thousands of jobs.
New urban developments are creating more space for leisure, shopping, and events, and opening up new livelihoods.
Together, these changes are set to make tourism an increasingly important driver of the city’s economy.
