NATO seeks to save inf treaty

VTV.vn - According to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at a meeting with defense ministers in Brussels, saving the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) treaty is a key task for the NATO.

The organisation is seeking to persuade nations to conduct dialogues, as the treaty plays an important role in the stability of Europe.

According to schedule, within this week, the NATO Secretary-General will hold talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov regarding the treaty. Earlier this month, the US and Russia announced withdrawal from the INF, alleging violations by other parties. NATO's failing to save the INF will mean NATO and other nations will need to brace themselves for a post-INF era, where a new arms race is possible
