Both sides were optimistic that this round of trade talks will lead to substantive results and help cool down trade tension over the past several months. The Chinese delegation included Vice Premier Liu He and central bank governor Yi Gang, and the US delegation had US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin.
Both sides showed optimism and determination regarding the results of the talk. Previously, the US has threatened to raise tariffs from 10% to 25% for 200 billion USD of imports from China if two sides cannot reach an agreement before March 1st. However, US President Donald Trump recently hinted the possibility of delaying raising tariffs by another 60 days.
