The National Tourism Year 2015 has provided the opportunity to improve the image of tourism in the northern central province. The province also welcomed 5.5 million domestic and foreign travellers this year, a 45-percent surge from 2014.
Kien Giang Southern province, which boasts Phu Quoc island, has been selected to host the 2016 national event.
