Chairwoman Ngan shared Vietnam's deepest condolences with the Cuban government, people and relatives of late leader Fidel Castro. She said current and future generations of Vietnamese would always remember the two countries' tight bonds, as well as Fidel Castro's contribution to Vietnam. The chairwoman said she was confident that under the leadership of President Raul Castro, Cuba would achieve the goals Fidel Castro set. She then expressed Vietnam's gratitude and respect to the late Cuban leader. Chairwoman Ngan underscored Vietnam's commitment to honoring and enriching the historic friendship between Cuba and Vietnam, nations on opposite sides of the world but on the same side in spirit. The Cuban NA President Esteban Lazo said that Cuba highly appreciated Vietnam's gesture and said that in the future, Cuba would further promote and deepen the ties between the two countries.
Also on the same day, Chairwoman Ngan met with the Chairman of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin. At the meeting, she said Vietnam highly appreciated the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Russia and hoped that the Russian government would continue and strengthen their support for the Vietnamese community. Her counterpart, Chairman Volodin said that Vietnam is one of Russia's most important partners in Southeast Asia and that this relationship would be further strengthened. He also invited Chairwoman Ngan to attend the 2017 Inter-Parliamentary Union in Russia.
