Each candidate has prepared their own action plan to present to voters. Many promises were made to encourage electors to vote for their future representatives at the upcoming general election slated for May 22nd.
"The candidates have made promises to create more jobs and provide more housing, improve average incomes, and promote environmental protection and food safety. However, a lot of effort would be needed to fulfil all of these promises." - Pham Minh Dung, Voter, Le Binh Ward, Can Tho City.
It is normal for candidates to urge voters to put faith in them. However, the reality of the National Assembly and People’s Councils shows that promises and performance are different stories.
"Voters will keep these promises in mind, to see if the winners try to accomplish what they promised after the election." - Doan Hiep, Voter, Soc Son District, Hanoi.
According to some National Assembly deputies, the action plans being sold to the electorate account for 70% of the outcome of the election. Voters nowadays are more meticulous in choosing their candidates.
"Candidates have set commendable goals for the 14th National Assembly, which have been noted by all voters, especially older people who closely watch the implementation of such goals." - Pham Van Sung, Voter, Hung Thanh Ward, Cai Rang District, Can Tho City.
Campaigning will continue until May 21st, as candidates carry on until the polling booths close. However, voters will only be able to judge the success of this election through how the promises they’re being given become realities.
