To ensure safety amidst the pandemic, the programme was split into many delegations strictly observing COVID-19 prevention measures while handing over the gifts to representatives of the districts and grassroots trade unions.
On the same day, the Kien Giang Provincial Federation of Labour and the trade union of the local educational sector visited and offered assistance to teacher Nguyen Quoc Tuan, a member of the trade union of the Hoa Thuan Secondary School and High School in Giong Rieng District’s Hoa Thuan Commune, whose house was damaged by a recent natural disaster.
Earlier on July 23, the provincial Labour Federation handed over more than VND280 million (US$12,180) to the provincial health sector’s trade union to support its 187 members in difficulties due to the impact of the pandemic. In addition, the federation presented VND100 million to the Kien Giang General Hospital and VND50 million to the provincial Centre for Disease Control (CDC) to support trade union members on the frontline of the COVID-19 fight.

On July 23-24, the Trung Binh Border Guard Station under the Soc Trang Border Guard Command presented 200 gifts to extremely needy families and lonely elderly people affected by the pandemic.
The People’s Committee of Tay Ninh Province recently issued Decision No. 15/2021/QD-UBND on providing support for self-employed workers and some other subjects facing difficulties due to COVID-19 in the locality (unemployed or under quarantine).
The aid recipients include garbage and scrap collectors, porters at markets and wharves, motorbike taxi drivers, lottery ticket retailers, street vendors, domestic workers, workers in public educational institutions whose contracts have been terminated, labourers working in the fields of catering, accommodation, tourism, and health care, and freelance workers in the construction sector.
Each will receive cash support of VND1.5 million, sourced from the State budget and other legal mobilisation resources.
