Accordingly, when the agreement takes effect, the EU will immediately remove about 85.6 per cent of its import tariffs on Vietnamese goods. After seven years, this rate will be raised to 99.2 per cent. In detail, goods such as produce, juice, handbags, suitcases, plastic products, pottery, and glassware will enjoy zero tariffs when the FTA enters into force. Concerning Vietnamese rice, the EU will apply zero tariffs on a certain volume of imports. As for EU exports to Vietnam, the tariffs on automobiles, alcoholic drinks, pork, and chicken will be eliminated within 9 to 10 years.
