Millions of Facebook user data exposed on Amazon cloud server

VTV.vn - Researchers from the cybersecurity firm UpGuard recently discovered that Facebook user account information was exposed on Amazon cloud servers.

The security team at UpGuard stated that they found two data breach incidents in different regions.

First incident was originated from the Mexico-based media company Cultura Colectiva which exposed around 146 GB of data that contained over 540 million records detailing comments, likes, reactions, account names, and other sensitive information.

The second data set was just a fraction of the size as the Cultura set, but contained more critical information, including plaintext Facebook passwords for over 22,000 users. both data sets were stored in Amazon cloud storage buckets that allowed public downloads. It is unclear how many users have been affected by the data breaches.
