Addressing the event, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh said the Mekong Delta has huge potential for green tourism development. However, currently, he says, there are only 13 FDI projects in the region valued at 147 million USD. He stressed that agencies should take measures to include local people in tourism development and raise public awareness about hospitable behaviour. He called on businesses to speed up investment in the Mekong Delta’s tourism and told ministries, departments and localities to remove difficulties that were hobbling businesses. The Deputy Prime Minister also confirmed that the government would create an investment environment for tourism investors to operate effectively while simultaneously protecting the environment.
