Speaking at the event, HWU Chairwoman Nguyen Tran Phuong Tran, said that over the past years, the union has taken practical and meaningful activities and movements, to care for the material and spiritual life of local women, and raise public awareness about women's role and gender equality.
She hailed that the city’s women have worked to increase their role in making contributions to the development achievements of Ho Chi Minh City.
Notably, the union’s members have actively joined hands with local authorities in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic, by supporting disadvantaged people to overcome difficulties caused by the pandemic, particularly children who were orphaned by COVID-19.
At the meeting, the HWU presented the Nguyen Thi Dinh Awards 2022 to eight collectives and five individuals, who made outstanding achievements in environmental protection, social welfare insurance for equality, progress and the development of women and children in Ho Chi Minh City.
