VTV.vn - On Thursday, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and UNICEF organised a workshop to review emergency support for drought and salinisation.

Back in March 2016, the Ministry called for emergency support for the 10 provinces deeply affected by drought and salinisation. A month after, the United Nations and other international partners gathered 48.5 million USD to fund the intitiative. During Thursday's review session, presentations concluded that the 4 million USD that Unicef fundraised was able to support 340,000 affected people in the 10 hardest-hit provinces. This figure includes over 120,000 women and 7500 children.
At the workshop, all sides agreed upon a national cooperation program to reduce the risks related to natural disasters, with a focus on children's protection and awareness. The program from 2017 to 2021 is expected to give children access to knowledge on natural disaster prevention.
