Ms Pham Thi Lan, a local in Ho Chi Minh city expresses her wish in the New Year: “On the New Year’s Eve, the elderly in my family will offer incense to pray for a new year of good luck, health, and peace. After that, we listened to the President’s New Year wish on TV and welcome the first day of the year”.
Spring flower street in Can Tho City attracted thousands of visitors. The event will last until the 6th day of the Lunar New Year and expect to welcome around 100,000 visitors.
Le Do Khuong from Tra Vinh province said he and his friends have finished their spring journey and returned to welcome the Lunar New Year with their families on the last day of the year. Their first destination of the trip was Can Tho City.“This was the first time I visited Can Tho. The city is so crowded and overwhelmed in the New Year atmosphere," he said.
Art performances to welcome the Lunar New Year were held on Bach Long Vi island district, Hai Phong city. Tet gifts and essential foods were also sent to the island from the mainland for the islanders to have a happy Tet.
Meanwhile, The ongoing Spring Press festival in Bac Lieu city introduces the national and provincial achievements last year and prospects for this year. The festival features 300 newspapers and magazines.
The Spring Flower festival has opened in Da Lat city, promoting local flower brands and horticulture. There are also performance of gongs, portrait drawing, and parallel sentence writing. The festival will run until February 8.
Long An province opened a flower walkway themed: “Congratulating the Party, the spring, the country, and the homeland of renewal.” The 500m flower path showcases the province’s characteristics.
Hanoians and visitors will be treated to a variety of colorful entertaining programs during the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday (Tet). On January 27, there will be 6 special art and sport shows on New Year’s eve at Ly Thai To monument, August revolution square, Tay Ho district center, My Dinh stadium square, Ha Dong district center, and Son Tay township. To Van Dong, Director of Hanoi’s Department of Culture and Sports, said, “We will organize many activities for Tet celebrations, such as outdoor performances and film screening in 30 districts and wards. There are community-based art and sport events for everybody to join in.”
This year, instead of real fireworks display, there will be the 5-minute screening of fireworks on LED panels near the performance sites.
