15 years after the residential area project first started, 1 million people or about 200,000 households now live in safety. However, many of them find it hard to get a job and earn a stable income.
Children and the elderly remain in the area while the others leave to look for jobs somewhere else. The situation requires the immediate attention of the government and financial support to ensure stability for locals.
A residential area for people affected by climate change is essential. However, the building of new houses has created debt that many struggle to pay. A number of people have had to leave their houses behind to look for jobs / so that they can pay off their debts.
Meanwhile, several residents in Long An Province have even offered to give up their homes. This issue will be discussed at a conference on September 26th, as requested by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
