As of 4 pm on Sunday, the centre of the tropical depression was situated at 500 kilometres northeast off the coast of Quang Ninh-Hai Phong. The depression is currently estimated to be moving at a speed of 20 to 25 kilometres per hour.
By 4 PM today, the depression's centre is expected to make landfall in the area around Quang Ninh province and Hai Phong city, maintaining high wind levels of 6 to 7 going up to 9 on the Beaufort scale.
Effects forecasted include heavy rains until Tuesday across the Northeastern and North Central regions of Vietnam, with total rainfall at around 50 to 100 mm, with some places possibly seeing 150mm of rain.
