In recent years, many films have featured the LGBT community, but with inaccurate points of view. With the hope of changing people's mindset about the LGBT community, a group of young people organized a film week, screening films and documentaries about homosexuals and transgender people, sharing and getting to know the LGBT community in Vietnam.
Hà Nội International Queer Film Week 2018 (HIQFW), an intimate series of film screenings and discussions projecting voices from the LGBTQ community took place in Hà Nội on August 12-17.

By elegantly integrating movies with art, HIQFW is successfully raising public awareness of the diversity of sexuality and playing a critical role in ending social discrimination of minority groups, according to Nguyễn Bảo Châu, director of the HIQFW.
The event screen 14 movies including eight short films and six feature films including Our Gay Wedding directed by Ellen Hobson, Tim Van Someren, and Claire Lewis; Lost in Paradise 2 directed by Vũ Ngọc Đãng; Saigon I Love You directed by Lý Minh Thắng; and Tomboy (2011) directed by Celine Sciamma.
