Leclerc to replace Raikkonen at Ferrari in 2019

VTV.vn - Monaco’s 20-year-old rookie Charles Leclerc will replace Formula One veteran Kimi Raikkonen at Ferrari next season in a seat swap with the Finnish 2007 world champion, who moves to Sauber.

The moves had been widely expected and were announced by both teams on Tuesday. Raikkonen, 38, first drove for Sauber in 2001, before moving to McLaren and then on to Ferrari, where he won a title that remains the team’s most recent.

* A third UEFA club competition is set to be introduced from the 2021-22 season with 32 teams in the group stage, the head of the association representing Europe's biggest clubs said on Tuesday. European Club Association chairman Andrea Agnelli told his members at a meeting in Split that it would be a third-tier competition to run alongside the existing Champions League, UEFA's showcase event, and the second-string Europa League.

* Everton majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri has increased his ownership stake in the club from 49.9 per cent to 68.6 per cent, the Premier League side announced on Tuesday. Moshiri purchased the additional 18.7 per cent through his Blue Heaven Holdings Ltd and the club said the British-Iranian businessman's share should rise to 77.2 per cent by July 2019.

* La Liga's plans to play Girona's fixture with champions Barcelona in Miami moved a step closer after the league's organising body said on Tuesday they have asked for permission from the Spanish football federation to take the game abroad. "Barcelona, Girona and La Liga have requested the authorisation of the Spanish Football Federation to play Girona v Barcelona on 26 January at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami at 20.45 CET," said a statement from the league.

* Kenya's Olympic marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge leaves for Berlin on Tuesday, with his sights trained on running his best ever race in the German capital on Sunday. The 33-year-old, widely seen as the greatest marathon runner of the modern era, has won almost every major marathon on the calendar, but the world record has eluded him.

* Scotland rejected a potential move to Murrayfield Stadium and will continue playing their fixtures at Hampden Park after 2020 following an agreement to buy the stadium, the country's Football Association announced on Tuesday.

* Italian Moto2 rider Romano Fenati was suspended by his country's motorcycling federation (FMI) and had his licence revoked after he shocked the sport by grabbing a rival's brake lever while racing at speed in a race on Sunday. The 22-year-old's contract with the Marinelli Snipers team had already been terminated following the astonishing incident during the San Marino Grand Prix.

* Italy's second tier Serie B will continue with the unusual number of 19 teams after appeals from a further six clubs to be included were rejected by an arbitration tribunal on Tuesday. Serie B usually has 22 teams but three of those who should have played this season were barred for financial reasons.

* Real Madrid's Brazilian defender, Marcelo on Tuesday signed an agreement with the Spanish Tax Authority in which he admitted tax evasion during 2013 and accepted a penalty of four months in prison along with having to make a payment of 753,624.90 euros. The Spanish media reports that the Tax Agency condemned the player for defrauding 490.917.70 euros by ceding his image rights to a Uruguayan 'front company' (Birsen Trade S.A) and that he should have paid over a million euros in tax during 2013.

* Manchester United's England left back Luke Shaw will miss his side's Premier League clash with high-flying Watford on Saturday as he recovers from concussion. Shaw had to be carried off the pitch on a stretcher on just two minutes into the second half of England's 2-1 defeat to Spain on Saturday as the result of an accidental collision with Spain defender Dani Carvajal.
