VTV.vn - Leaders paid visits and presented gifts to policy beneficiaries nationwide on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival 2020.

On the afternoon of January 14, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Tran Thanh Man paid a visit to the Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS), Most Venerable Thich Pho Tue, at Hanoi’s Vien Minh Pagoda in Quang Lang Commune, Phu Xuyen District.

On behalf of the Party, State and VFF leaders, Man wished Most Venerable Thich Pho Tue good health and longevity, while expressing his desire that with his role and prestige, Most Venerable Thich Pho Tue would continue to unite the VBS and guide Buddhist dignitaries and followers to actively participate in the patriotic emulation movements and campaigns launched by the Front, contributing to building and consolidating the great national unity bloc.

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Rat, 2020, on Tuesday morning, Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi Municipal Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai hosted a meeting with the city’s former leaders.

Hai expressed his sincere thanks for the sentiments and valuable contributions of Hanoi’s former leaders, calling on them to always support and contribute to Party building and consolidating the political system at all levels in the capital city.

In Lai Chau Province, National Assembly Vice Chairman Phung Quoc Hien attended Tet Reunion Festival 2020, organised by the Lai Chau Provincial Trade Union in coordination with other relevant local units and enterprises. On the occasion, Hien presented 50 Tet gifts for local disadvantaged Trade Union members, workers and employees, worth VND1.2 million each.

On January 14, at the Duc Tho District Cultural House in Ha Tinh Province, the Ha Tinh Journalists Association, in collaboration other local agencies, opened the Ha Tinh Spring Press Festival 2020, offering readers over 200 newspapers and nearly 800 Tet publications and press products by press agencies across the nation.

At the event, Nhan Dan Newspaper presented 40 Tet gifts, worth VND500,000 each, to disadvantaged students in Duc Tho District. In addition, other news agencies and newspapers also gave 200 gifts worth a total of VND100 million to local students.

On January 14, a Tet gathering was also held at Na Hinh Border Station in Van Lang District, Lang Son Province, for local teachers and soldiers. On the occasion, the Vietnam Education Trade Union presented hundreds of Tet gifts for teachers, students and schools in the district, worth over VND600 million in total.

The Thanh Hoa Provincial Women's Union cooperated with the province's Border Guard Command to hold a Tet gathering for locals in Muong Min Commune, in the mountainous Quan Son District. The organisers awarded nearly 100 Tet gifts and financial assistance to women and students in difficult circumstances in the district.

A delegation from the General Political Department of the People's Army under the Ministry of Defence, headed by Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quang Phuong, paid Tet visits to several units in Dak Lak Province.

The Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs of Thua Thien - Hue Province cooperated with the Thien Tam Fund of Vingroup and Nha Dau Tu (Investors) Magazine to present 1,400 Tet gifts worth a total of VND840 million to disadvantaged families in the province.

The National Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs organised missions to pay Tet visits to several units, officials and locals in Dak O Commune, Binh Phuoc Province’s Bu Gia Map District, and in Lai Chau Province’s Phong Tho District.
