The centre took just five days to set up at the Bac Giang Psychiatric Hospital with the assistance of Bach Mai Hospital and staffed by leading ICU exports from major hospitals across Vietnam.
Speaking at the handover of the centre, Bac Giang Chairman Le Anh Duong said that this centre, the largest in northern Vietnam, is highly significant to the province as it has recorded 3,000 cases and counting.
Deputy Health Minister Nguyen Truong Son said the Bac Giang ICU centre offers the health sector a new and modern instrument for the treatment of Covid-19 patients, especially seriously ill ones.
He also expressed his hope that in the coming time, Bac Giang health workers can learn from ICU experts and stand ready to undertake the mission in their place when they leave Bac Giang.
As of June 4, 153 patients in Bac Giang Province have been declared as recovered from Covid-19.
