20-day trawling trips are seeing boats bringing back 1.5-3 tonnes of tuna. Tuna is currently being sold for 90-130,000 VND, approximately 4 to 6 USD a kilo. At these prices, fishermen can earn 4,500-6m000 USD profit per trip. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, total tuna output in the first three months in the three provinces reached an estimated 6,000 tonnes. Demand for tuna is also high as local companies look to export the fish.
