On Tuesday, the Laos Health ministry announced the first two Covid-19 cases, a 28-year-old male hotel worker and a 36-year-old female tour guide, both in the capital Vientiane. The infected female tour guide had been to Vangvieng and Luang Prabang in northern Laos and Cambodia before showing flu-like symptoms.
The other infected male hotel staff is suspected to have been infected in Thailand while taking a training course there. Both of them are being treated at the designated hospital in Vientiane.
The patients aren't in serious condition and the treatment is going well. Earlier, Myanmar also recorded its first two cases of Covid-19 in the country. They are two Myanmar nationals who have just returned from the US and the UK. Both also tested positive for SARS-CoV-2. All 10 ASEAN nations have recorded Covid-19 cases.
