Receiving the delegation, Vice Director of the provincial Department of Information and Communications Vo Van Tho briefed the Lao reporters on the management of heritage sites and different ways to promote them.
Quang Nam has two World Heritage Sites, four special national relic sites, and 62 national and 353 provincial relics.
In 2018, the ancient town of Hoi An and the My Son Sanctuary lured more than 6 million visitors, earning the provincial tourism sector more than 62 billion VND, he noted.
Promoting these sites helps motivate socio-economic development and attract investment in the province, contributing to developing the tourism-service sector and improving local incomes, said Tho.
He said that Quang Nam has worked to improve public awareness and called on the local community to protect and promote the value of the sites, ensuring their sustainability.
Representing the Lao delegation, Phongsa Somsavath, deputy head of the Department of Journalism under the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism of Laos, thanked Quang Nam for sharing its experience.
He expressed his hope that Quang Nam will continue to foster friendship with Lao localities, while strengthening promotions for Lao visitors.
