State President Trần Đại Quang asked the two countries’ national assemblies to co-operate in supervising the implementation of bilateral agreements, sharing experience in developing legal systems, law enforcement and supporting Vietnamese businesses investing in Vietnam. He also stressed the needs for co-operation in sustainable use of the Mekong River. Lao National Assembly Deputy Chairman said the two legislatures would closely follow the guidance of the two politburos in holding activities to celebrate the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
During her reception for the Lao guests, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân praised the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, government and people of Laos for their socio-economic achievements and chairing of ASEAN this year. The chairwoman called for closer co-operation between the two legislatures in the run up to the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations. The Lao National Assembly Deputy Chairman said the visit was an opportunity to learn more about the operation of provincial and municipal people’s councils. He also suggested that the two National Assemblies promote friendly relations between the people of their respective countries.
Prior to this meeting, Lao National Assembly Deputy Chairman also had a working session with Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Uông Chu Lưu.
