VTV.vn - Many activities have been held across the country to commemorate the upcoming Day of War Invalids and Martyrs (July 27).

On Friday night, a lantern night called "Gratitude to comrades" was held on the bank of the Thạch Hãn River in the central province of Quảng Trị, as part of the commemoration of the 71st Day of War Invalids and Martyrs. More than 15,000 lanterns were lit and cast into the legendary Thạch Hãn River.

The lantern night also featured solemn ceremonies and emotional art performances that praised the soldiers for their comradeship and highlighted the nation's gratitude towards the war heroes who fought and sacrificed their lives at the 81-day battle in Quảng Trị Ancient Citadel in 1972.

On the occasion, organisers of the festival also presented 32 houses of gratitude worth 50 million VND (2,170 USD) each to families of policy beneficiaries and gift sets to two Heroic Mothers in the province.
