The turbine group, which has completed a test run, will be put into official operation four or five days ahead of schedule, on June 25 and will help ensure supply of power in the summer season. The first 400MW turbine group of the plant went on line last year. Lai Chau hydropower plant is located in the upper reach of the Da River and is based at a 137m high and 500m long dam. The three-turbine plant is designed for a combined capacity of 1,200 MW. It will supply over 4,670 million KWh of electricity for the national grid per year when all three of its turbines become operational.
