Lai Chau province deals with aftermath of landslides

VTV.vn - After a series of landslides recently struck the northern province of Lai Chau, on Monday, authorities had to resort to using mines to clear the passages into a number of villages.

The passages were mostly located in the district of Phong Tho. The route from Dào San to Vang Ma Chai, the main route in the province, was severely damaged by the rain and floods and is expected to be cleared of rocks and debris this morning (Tuesday). Villages in Lai Chau near the border with China such as Ma Li Chai and Sìn Lau can expect to see clear roads by noon today (Tuesday). Search and rescue efforts are still ongoing, with border forces on call 24/7. In Phong Tho district, prolonged rains and landslides have claimed the lives of 6 people and 6 have gone missing.
