Eight other houses partially collapsed, raising the total number of houses damaged by the landslide to 22. No human losses were recorded.
Landslides are becoming more common after continuous heavy rain and the Hoa Binh hydropower plant discharged water. Many other houses are showing signs of cracking and could collapse at any time.
Local authorities have mobilized hundreds of police officers, soldiers, and related forces to help people evacuate their property. The city will soon relocate the remaining households in the danger zone to safe resettlement.
