Its theme is "Preserving and promoting the Southern Khmer culture for the country's sustainable development." The festival has gathered nearly 3000 artisans, performers and athletes from 12 cities and provinces.
The 3-day event features various activities including replications of folk festivals, traditional costume shows, ghe Ngo (boat) races, folk sports and tourism promotion activities. The 7th Southern Khmer Festival of Culture, Sports and Tourism is also an occasion for Bac Lieu province to promote its image and help unlock its tourism potential.
