VTV.vn - This October, audiences will be immersed in memories and love for Hanoi through a series of special programs on VTV, such as "Hanoi Documentary Week" on VTVgo, the art program "Hanoi - The City’s Anthem," and "The Song of Hanoi"...

"Hanoi - The City’s Anthem": Reminiscing about the Historic and Heroic Days of the Capital

The production team chose the Thang Long Imperial Citadel as the venue  to host "Hanoi - The City’s Anthem." This site holds great significance for the thousand-year-old capital, where the first flag-raising ceremony of the Liberated Capital took place at 3 PM on October 10, 1954.

In the program, audiences will meet Mr. Nguyen Van An, former Chairman of the National Assembly, one of the youngest self-defense soldiers at the Ho Ho Power Plant. Mr. Nguyen Van An  helped protect  the plant, and ensured that  the lights stayed on  when the government took over Hanoi—a symbol of a civilized, stable, and orderly capital with a new beginning. Viewers will also meet Meritorious Artist Phung De, a veteran battlefield cameraman. During the 60 days and nights defending the Hanoi Citadel in 1946, he was just a 13-year-old liaison for the units inside the citadel, present during the historic retreat on February 17, 1947... Another guest will be Ms. Pham Thi Vien, a 22-year-old female self-defense soldier at Mai Dong Mechanical Plant, who bravely stood by the artillery with a white mourning scarf, helping shoot down an F111A aircraft on the night of December 22, 1972...

The program' combines music, light, 3D projection technology, and the performances of many artists such as People’s Artist Tan Minh, Meritorious Artist Dang Duong, Hong Nhung, Tung Duong, Trong Tan, Vu Thang Loi, Pham Thu Ha, Bao Tram, Ta Quang Thang, To Loan, Dong Hung, Le Anh Dung, the Oplus music group, Tuong Linh, violinist Minh Hien, and violinist Hai Ngoc... Together, they will create "Hanoi - The City’s Anthem" filled with emotional depth and historical resonance of the capital. The program’s music director is composer Luu Ha An, who adds new colors to classic musical works. Some are powerful and majestic like "Nguoi Ha Noi" and "Ha Noi Niem Tin va Hy Vong," while others are tender like the mashup of "Huong Ve Ha Noi" and "Ao Mua Dong," or innocent and pure like "Em Be Ha Noi."

"The City’s Anthem" will be broadcast live at 8:10 PM on October 10 on VTV1 and VTVGo. Viewers can also watch the program live at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel World Heritage Site—19C Hoang Dieu, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi, at 7:30 PM on the same day. Note: Free admission.

"The Song of Hanoi" is divided into four parts: Part I - Resilient Hanoi; Part II - Elegant Hanoi; Part III - Hanoi, the Land of Heritage; Part IV - Connecting Hanoi. The program will depict and honor the thousand-year-old tradition of the capital, a place of talented and virtuous people, where the majestic spirit of Thang Long and the sacred mountains and rivers linger, embodying the wisdom and morality of the Vietnamese people.

The program will feature reports that guide viewersand provide a deeper insight into Hanoi’s past and present, creating an overall compelling and emotional experience for the audience. These reports will showcase the resilience of Hanoians through cinematic works such as "Em Be Ha Noi" (1974), "Sao Thang Tam" (1976), "Ha Noi Mua Chim Lam To" (1981), "Dien Bien Phu" (1992), "Mua Oi" (2000), "Ha Noi 12 Ngay Dem" (2002), "Ha Noi - Ha Noi" (2006), "Hoa Nhai" (2022), and "Dao, Pho va Piano" (2024). Music, with meticulously crafted performances, will serve as the emotional thread that connects the program. The grand opening will feature the song "Ha Noi Mot Trai Tim Hong," performed by People’s Artist Quang Tho and singer Dao To Loan, along with nearly 50 artists. Additionally, many famous songs about Hanoi will be performed, such as the mashup of "Bai Ca Ha Noi" and "Troi Ha Noi Xanh" (People’s Artist Tan Minh and Khanh Linh); "Mot Thoang Tay Ho" (People’s Artist Tan Minh and traditional musicians playing the dan day, phach, senh pair, and trong chau drum); and a medley of Hanoi songs: "Goi Toi Ha Noi," "Nong Nan Ha Noi," and "Ha Noi Tra Da Via He" (Lam Bao Ngoc, Nguyen Duc Cuong, Dinh Manh Ninh, Rapper Dr. Peem, and dance group FED).

With a unique approach, the production team aims to tell memorable stories through various themes, such as "The Song of Construction," "A Time of War and a Time of Peace," "Hanoi’s Twelve Seasons of Flowers," and "New Hanoi." Filming locations include iconic landmarks of Hanoi, such as Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the Thang Long Tobacco Factory, and Hanoi Children’s Palace. Through these architectural icons, the team hopes to tell emotional stories about the capital.

"Hanoi in My Eyes": A New Rendezvous on VTV3

"Hanoi in My Eyes" is a new rendezvous produced by VTV’s Entertainment Program Production Department to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital. It’s a place where people born, raised, and working in this beloved land can share their heartfelt feelings about a Hanoi that has entered poetry and glorious history.

"I was born and raised in Hanoi, so my love for Hanoi feels like the love for my own home. It’s a familiar, cherished feeling as I recall each street and its unique scenery. Hanoi changes every day, but its essence remains, despite the fast pace of life and time," said editor Hong Nhung.

"In 1983, director Tran Van Thuy wondered, ‘What will Hanoi look like in the eyes of future generations?’ His renowned film "Hanoi in Whose Eyes" gave us unforgettable images of Hanoi enduring the hardships of the post-subsidy era, evoking deep pride and longing, while echoing the wishes of our ancestors for the happiness of the people. How do you see Hanoi today? VTV3’s campaign encourages you to capture and share your images of Hanoi—perhaps they will become treasured memories for future generations, just like the old photos of Hanoi’s streets and people," said journalist Ta Bich Loan about this new rendezvous on VTV3.

Hanoi in my eyes are the ancient streets, where cobblestone bears the footprints of  time; it is the golden autumn leaves on every tree, mingled with the sweet scent of milk flowers wafting   through the narrow alleys. Hanoi, the land of a thousand years of culture, is not only distinguished by its ancient beauty but also resonates with the heroic spirit of historical moments. Hanoi is the pride of every Vietnamese person, a place where the past and the future meet, leaving  an unforgettable memory for everyone who visits with an unforgettable memory. "For Tung Duong, Hanoi is the ups and downs of history, the ancient charm, the old streets, the street vendors..." said  the artist Tung Duong.

Hanoi is not just a hometown but also an endless source of inspiration. With "Hanoi in My Eyes," the Entertainment Program Production Department of VTV will receive and share emotional, precious footage about Hanoi sent by the audience, spreading the love for the capital and preserving beautiful memories of this city.
