On Monday the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held a meeting with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Japan to discuss several action plans for Vietnamese agriculture.
According to Shinya Ejima, JICA's senior vice president, agriculture and natural disaster mitigation are two major focuses of JICA's support plans in Vietnam.
JICA is carrying out 7 major plans in Vietnam, including a tuna project in Bình Định Province, animal husbandry technology in HCMC, flower market development in Lâm Đồng Province.
In the coming years flood mitigation and water resources management in the central region will be the focus. Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyễn Xuân Cường hailed JICA's efforts, including an effective water management plan for 3 big reservoirs in Thừa Thiên Huế Province.
The minister also hoped JICA would continue its support for infrastructure development and climate change mitigation.
