At a meeting with Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc, Japan International Cooperation Agency, or JICA, President Shinichi Kitaoka asserted that JICA will continue to support Vietnam with the development of human resources and infrastructure. He also said the agency will send a group of experts to the southern province of Bến Tre to help the province cope with salinisation and drought. JICA is a government agency that coordinates official development assistance (ODA) for the government of Japan.
The Vietnamese Prime Minister also met with President and CEO of Mitsubishi Corporation Takehiko Kakiuchi in Nagoya on the same day. He said Vietnam welcomes and encourages Japanese businesses, including Mitsubishi, to operate in the country. In return, Takehiko Kakiuchi said Mitsubishi considers Vietnam an important market, and plans to boost its collaboration with local businesses. Mitsubishi now has two affiliates specialising in import-export, along with 20 investment projects in Vietnam.
PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc also visited the Yokoyama farm, a model of clean agricultural production in Aichi prefecture. The Japanese Governor affirmed that the farm would share their technology with Vietnamese farmers./.
