Japanese tech used for Ho Chi Minh City metro

VTV.vn - A Japanese-made tunnel boring machine will be used to dig a 781-meter long underground tunnel in a year to link Ben Thanh Station in District 1 with Suoi Tien Station in District 9 along Metro Line 1.

Measuring 70 meters and weighing 300 tonnes, the machine includes a primary 12.5 meter drill, an engine room, a control room, and a cement mortar supply chamber.

After being assembled and tested, it is expected to officially begin operating in May, with a capacity of 12 meters of tunnel per day.
