Japan is refusing to alter its hardline stance towards North Korea, claiming North Korea still poses a "serious and imminent threat" to its security, despite a lowering of regional tensions following US President Donald Trump's summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
The Defence Ministry also voiced concern over Chinese military spending and naval activity in the East Sea, as well as air and maritime activity around the disputed Senkaku islands, or Diaoyu as refered to by China, in the East China Sea.
