The morning of November 26th, in An Giang Province, leading experts and managers of thirteen provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta attended the International Conference entitled "Causes and Solutions to Prevent Erosion and Sedimentation in the Mekong Delta".
Most striking is the serious sediment shortage from excessive sand mining. The construction of infrastructure, roads, and water transport increases the pressure on the surface tolerance. Scientists recommended localities should handle and overcome landslides with soft structures of sand mat, which is quite simple and of low cost. Particularly for solid construction solutions such as embankments, it is necessary to carefully study the local geology and hydrodynamics to ensure quality and efficiency.
