This decision comes into effect this month. This grant will be valid for the previous 6 months and will be paid by January 2019 at the latest. The subsidy will increase until double the current amout. The increase in subsidies is expected to improve the Indonesian police performance, contribute to institutional reform and reduce corruption. According to the Indonesian police commander, only half of police officers in Indonesia have their own houses and the problem will soon be resolved.
