The border checkpoint connects Vietnam’s Lai Chau Province and China’s Yunnan Province.
According to the Lai Chau government, local authorities in China had earlier notified that they would abolish all COVID-19 inspection measures on goods, and restore immigration for people through the Ma Lu Thang-Jinshuihe Border Gate.
The full restoration of immigration activity is expected to promote comprehensive cooperation in border trade and tourism between both sides.
On the first day of reopening, authorities handled the exit procedures for 100 Vietnamese citizens entering China and the entry procedures for 100 Chinese citizens to Vietnam.
