VTV.vn - The Vietnam Youth Union on Wednesday launched a campaign to pay tribute to the revolutionary veterans and people in need in Hien Luong-Ben Hai relic site in Quang Tri province.

The Geneva Agreements on Vietnam signed in 1954 divided Vietnam into North and South with the 17th Parallel where the Ben Hai River runs through the central province of Quang Tri as a borderline.

Activities which will last until May 15 include flag hoisting, incense offering and dove releases in local historical relics, free meals supplied to needy people, scholarships to orphans, medical masks and protective equipment to border guards.

Phan Thi Hue from Gio Linh District has joined the program. She said: We are eager to join the program as it reflects our tributes to those contributed to national liberation, especially heroic mothers. We want to further promote our tradition of drink water and remembering its source.”

The Youth Union also launched 98 voluntary teams to take care of lonely former young volunteers.
