The title was granted to the city by the WWF this morning June 28th. The Earth Hour Capital this year attracted 125 cities in 21 countries all over the world. Hue City was among the 18 finalists and Paris won the Global Earth Hour Capital title.
Becoming a National Earth Hour Capital, Hue has made a commitment to cut greenhouse emissions by 20% by 2020 compared to 2011’s emission levels In addition, 7 action plans have also been introduced, including greening the city, developing green tourism, effective treatments of waste water and domestic waste, smart urban lighting, promoting renewable energy and eco-friendly building materials.
