VTV.vn - In 1999, the ancient town of Hoi An and My Son was recognized as a World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Hoi An and My Son in the central province of Quang Nam celebrated 20 years of being recognized as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO with a cultural and art program named “Traditional musical instruments and vintage vehicles – The heritage journey” on Saturday.

Music shows were organized across the two attractions while various traditional musical instruments were on display at An Hoi Sculpture Garden.

“This is an opportunity to introduce Vietnam’s treasure of traditional musical instruments. The program involves 200 artists from 8 art troupes and 125 kinds of musical instruments,” said Mr. Ngo Hong Quang, General Director of the program.

Different kinds of vintage vehicles joined street parades from Hoi An to My Son. Mr. Dinh Hai, former Head of Quang Nam province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: “The event honors Vietnam cultural heritages and reminds us of the responsibility for protecting them”.

Hoi An is recognized as an exceptionally well-preserved example of a Southeast Asia trading port dating to the 15th century with its buildings and streets reflecting a blend of indigenous and foreign influences.

My Son is a cluster of Hindu temples constructed between the 4th and 14th centuries.
