The hot spell is forecast to sweep across the northern midlands and plains, Hoa Binh and Thanh Hoa, and from Ha Tinh to Binh Thuan. Temperatures in these localities are forecast to reach between 35-37 degrees Celsius, even above 40 degrees Celsius in the mountainous regions of Thanh Hoa to Quang Ngai.
This heatwave may last until June 9, with a high risk of forest fires in Central Vietnam and a risk of fires in residential areas, due to increased electricity consumption.
