VTV.vn - The southern provinces of Vietnam are experiencing a heat wave with outdoor temperatures reaching nearly 40 degrees Celsius.

Hot weather is said to greatly affect people's health, especially outdoor workers, the elderly, and young children. The heat over the past few days has caused a hike in patients seeking medical treatment, especially children.

The HCM City University of Medicine and Pharmacy saw an increase of 10-20% of patients, especially elderly patients coming in for examination and treatment, which account for about 70%. Many cases of high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, and stroke have been recorded.

The HCM City Children's Hospital received more than 5000 patients a day on average, up more than 10% compared to before the Tet holidays. Experts forecast the southern provinces to experience several large-scale heat waves from now until the end of April.
