On the afternoon of March 29, the Vietnamese minister hosted a reception for Director of the US CDC Southeast Asia Regional Office John MacArthur and Acting Country Director of the US CDC in Vietnam Matthew Moore.
At the meeting, the two sides exchanged cooperation in various fields, including the establishment of a US CDC Southeast Asian office run by the US CDC in Vietnam to further strengthen cooperation in health security, as well as US CDC support for a number of units under the Vietnamese health sector.
Minister Long affirmed that Vietnam supports the issues raised by the US CDC in Southeast Asia, especially in terms of health security.
He also expressed his wish that the US CDC would support Vietnam in the process of setting up its central CDC offices located in the North and the South.
The health official suggested that the US CDC Office in Southeast Asia assist Vietnam in accessing COVID-19 vaccine supplies from the US to meet the need for vaccination against the epidemic in the country.
