On the occasion, a Vietnamese class for Cambodians of Vietnamese descent was also opened.
The headquarters, covering 270 square metres, is a gift from the government and people of Ho Chi Minh City, with the construction undertaken by the Vietnamese Consulate General in Preah Sihanouk.
Speaking at the ceremony, Consul General Vu Ngoc Ly praised the solidarity of Vietnamese Cambodians in overcoming the difficulties caused by Covid-19 and natural disasters.
Ly stated that the inauguration of the headquarters is a significant event for the local Vietnamese community, adding that it can serve as a venue for community activities.
In the meantime, the Vietnamese class will afford children an opportunity to learn more about their language and culture.
The class has been given support from many organisations, including 25 sets of tables and chairs donated by the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia and 50 textbook and comic titles from the Vietnamese Consulate General in Preah Sihanouk.
