The event in Hanoi will take place on August 5 and 6, and in HCMC on August 10 and 11.
Music enthusiasts in the nation’s two biggest cities will have the opportunity to enjoy wonderful classical melodies of the 19th century. Tickets are available at Hanoi Opera House and HCMC Opera House at VND100,000 to VND700,000 each.
The 19th Toyota Concert will be performed by VNSO under the baton of talented Japanese conductor Honna Tetsuji. For the first time, the concert will feature solo pianist Vu Ngoc Linh, who bagged many big awards at music contests in the U.S. such as: first prize in the Piano and Orchestra competition in New Jersey in 2004, and second prize by the Music Teachers Association of New Jersey in 2005.
The program will take spectators back to Russia of the 19th century where many outstanding composers of classical music were born, such as Mikhail Glinka, known as the father of Russian classical music, pianist/composer/conductor Sergei Rachmaninoff, and composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky.
The classical compositions chosen for the concert are greatly favored by music lovers in Russia and elsewhere in the world. They include Overture from Opera “Ruslan and Ludmila” (M. Glinka), Piano Concerto No.2 in C minor, Op.18 (S. Rachmaninov) and Symphony No.5 in E minor, Op.64 (P.I.Tchaikovsky).
The Toyota Concert program has had 58 concert nights and 34,500 spectators.
