HCM City celebrates 93rd anniversary of Thailand’s National Day

VTV.vn - HUFO held a meeting on December 2 to mark the 93rd anniversary of the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand (December 5, 1927-2020) and express solidarity and friendship with the Thai people.

Chairman of the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association, Ho Chi Minh City chapter Dinh Khac Duycongratulated the country on its National Day, also the birthday of late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Father’s Day in Thailand.

He emphasised the fact that Vietnam and Thailand are close neighbours and members of the ASEAN Community and other regional organisations.

The bilateral relations between the two countries have developed well across all areas, particularly in politics, security, defence, and trade since the establishment ofdiplomatic ties in 1976.

Vietnam and Thailand have 13 pairs of provinces/cities which have established friendship relations including Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok, helping to strengthen the relations between the two countries.

Thailand is currently one of the top ten foreign investors in Vietnam with total investment of over US$12.3 billion. Thailand has also been the largest trade partner of Vietnam in ASEAN in recent years.

The bilateral trade volume between the two countries reached US$17.5 billion in 2019.

He noted that amid the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Thailand and Vietnam have expressed their friendship and mutual support through the donation of medical masks, protective clothing and financial aid.

He affirmed that the Consulate General of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City will continue to strengthen cooperation with HUFO, the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association and other organisations to jointly foster ties between the two countries.
