The event was attended by former Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh; Politburo member and permanent member of the Secretariat Tran Quoc Vuong; and Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung.
Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong sent a congratulatory letter to the forestry sector.
In his letter, the top leader affirmed that over the past 75 years, the officials, employees and workers of the forestry sector have made great efforts to overcome all difficulties and gained outstanding achievements, contributing to the country’s socio-economic development and the cause of national construction and defence.
He also emphasised during the new development period, the country will not only witness advantages but also face serious difficulties and challenges due to climate change, extreme weather and natural disasters.
In the context of strong development of the fourth industrial revolution and requirements of socio-economic development in association with the protection of ecological environment and adaptation to climate change, the forestry sector’s mission is very hard but very glorious, added the Party and State leader.
He expressed his belief that all officials and employees of Vietnam’s forestry sector will continue to uphold the gained achievements and join hands to fulfil their assigned tasks.
Despite difficulties, the export turnover of forestry was estimated at over US$12.6 billion in 2020, a year-on-year increase of 11.5%.
Vietnam’s forestry export value continued to lead ASEAN as well as ranked second in Asia and fifth in the world.
The country’s wooden and forestry products maintained their appearance in 140 countries and territories, especially major markets such as the US, Japan, the Republic of Korea, EU and China.
