VTV.vn - As special exams are taking place in an unusual context due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, Hanoi is well-prepared for safe high school entrance exams to be kick-started in a couple of days.

On the afternoon of June 9, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi municipal People's Committee, Chu Xuan Dung, chaired his second teleconference with local units on preparations for the 10th grade entrance exams for the 2021-2022 school year.

The new academic year will see 93,363 students register for the 10th grade entrance exams. The Hanoi Department of Education and Training has prepared 3,988 exam rooms located across 184 venues in 30 administrative units, while mobilising over 16,700 officials, teachers and employees to participate in the exams.

To ensure safety against COVID-19, the department has coordinated with local authorities to organise rehearsals for the exams and finished them all by June 8.

At the meeting, Vice Chairman Dung, Head of the capital city’s Examination and Admissions Steering Committee for the 2021-2022 School Year, said this year's 10th grade entrance exams are taking place in a special context. Therefore, to ensure the safety of the exams, city authorities have decided to change the exam schedule as well as make regular adjustments to suit the actual conditions.

To prepare for the exams that will start on June 12, Dung urged local agencies and units to seriously implement the city's direction, continue to perfect the organising plan and update new information and conditions to implement them as close to normal as possible, while continuing to propagate the new points of the exams regarding the schedule and the city's epidemic prevention and control work.

The Department of Education and Training was asked to coordinate with local units in actively arranging forces, being ready to welcome candidates into the exam rooms and requiring students to complete medical declarations before 5pm on June 11, while at the same time disseminating regulations on the prevention and control of COVID-19.

Local authorities need to pay attention to the prevention and control of the epidemic, ensuring security and order, reviewing the facilities serving the exams, while preparing backup plans to ensure all safety conditions for the exams are ensured.
