Vietnam records 324 new COVID-19 infections on June 9

VTV.vn - Vietnam logged 283 new cases of COVID-19 infections on the afternoon of June 9, bringing the total number of infections in the past 18 hours to 324.

In Bac Giang province alone, there were 253 new cases this afternoon, of which 201 were detected during screening in blockade areas from May 27 to 29 in Quang Chau commune, Tien Son commune and Nenh town of Viet Yen district.

Hanoi also discovered four more cases related to an infected cluster in the Dong Anh suburban district.

The numbers of locally-transmitted and imported cases rose to 7,897 and 1,608, respectively as of this noon.

Meanwhile, the total number of domestic infections reported since April 27, when the fourth coronavirus wave hit the country, amounts to 6,327.

To date, the number of recoveries is 3,549, while the death toll has hit 55.

Among those undergoing treatment, 218 people have tested negative for the virus once, 92 twice, and 78 thrice.

After all staff, doctors, patients and their relatives tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19, Ha Tinh General Hospital in Ha Tinh province reopened from 6am this morning. Immediately after the discovery of a COVID-19 patient working in the hospital, the local health authorities and functional forces had temporarily suspended operations and fully disinfected the hospital.

Also this morning, Nghe An province sent 52 medical workers to help the neighbouring province of Ha Tinh fight its latest outbreaks. The delegations were vaccinated, tested for COVID-19, and received medical examinations before leaving. In addition, the Nghe An health sector has also helped Ha Tinh with other essential medical facilities. Nghe An General Friendship Hospital donated VND100 million to Ha Tinh province.

On the same day, the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee of Quang Nam province held a ceremony to launch donations to support COVID-19 prevention and control in the province. 34 organisations, units, enterprises and associations donated VND20.4 billion, while in 18 other districts, towns and localities in the province, more than VND1.4 billion was mobilised. The Truong Hai Auto Corporation (THACO) has donated VND10 billion to contribute to the purchase of COVID-19 vaccines. THACO has donated more than VND40 billion to a number of provinces and cities to assist them in the COVID-19 fight.

On the morning of June 9, Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony to receive more than VND99 billion donated by various organisations, businesses and individuals to support the prevention and control of COVID-19, of which the total amount registered to support the purchase COVID-19 vaccines stands at over VND78 billion. By the end of June 8, there were 103 units and individuals in the city with registered donations of more than VND2.2 trillion, to be used buy vaccines against COVID-19.
