National team members Nguyen Duc Tuan and Doan Ba Tuan Anh beat Tran Tuan Quynh and Nguyen Trung Kien 3-1 and 3-0, respectively, to help Hai Duong take the lead over Hanoi T&T 1.
However, excellent performances by Le Dinh Thuc, Nguyen Trung Kien and Tran Tuan Quynh in the following three matches helped Hanoi T&T 1 come from behind to defeat Hai Duong and successfully defended their championship title in the men's event.
In the women’s event, Ho Chi Minh City 1 secured the title after beating Hanoi T&T 3-1.
Other matches in the doubles events for both men and women as well as the mixed doubles category will be held today.
This year’s competition has brought together most of the country’s leading players, namely Nguyen Anh Tu, Dinh Quang Linh, Doan Ba Tuan Anh, Mai Hoang My Trang and Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh, alongside young talents such as Le Dinh Duc, Bui Van Duc, Bui Ngoc Lan and Pham Thu Huong.
The players are competing for seven sets of medals, in the singles, doubles and team events in the men, women, andmixed doubles categories. In addition, the organising committee will present prizes to the best young male and female players, as well as to the locality with the most animated table tennis movement.
